After years of traveling independently with her family, our founder, Summer Romeo, came to understand what truly made a trip meaningful. It was not how much you saw, but how supported and connected you felt along the way.

Summer Romeo is the founder and visionary behind Out Making Memories, a travel company born from a deep belief that the most meaningful moments in life happen when we step outside our comfort zones and into the world. A devoted wife to Frank and mother to two spirited young explorers—Hayleigh (8) and Keith (5)—Summer has built a life centered around adventure, curiosity, and connection.
With a professional background in finance and accounting, Summer combines strategic thinking with a deep love for exploration, curating thoughtfully designed journeys that blend adventure, culture, wildlife, and moments of luxury. Having traveled to more than twenty countries, many of them solo with her children, she believes travel is one of the greatest forms of education and connection.
Through Out Making Memories, Summer curates and often leads transformative group experiences for women and families around the world. Her trips go beyond sightseeing, weaving together meaningful cultural encounters, conservation efforts, and opportunities to support local communities. At its heart, her mission is simple: to inspire others to live boldly, travel deeply, and create memories that last a lifetime.

I’ve chased the Northern Lights, climbed the tallest free standing mountains in the world, sailed through the Caribbean, and wandered through quiet villages most travelers never reach. These experiences have shaped not only how I travel—but how I plan trips for others. Whether it’s helping someone check a bucket-list safari off their list or guiding families through a cultural adventure they’ll never forget, I specialize in curating journeys that go beyond the guidebook.

what inspired me to start Out Making Memories

Simply put—my husband. He’s been my biggest supporter, the quiet strength behind the scenes who encouraged me to stop dreaming and start doing. I had always imagined launching a travel company that brought travers together through meaningful adventures. For years, I’ve told my children to dream big and follow their passions—my husband told me it was time I took my own advice.
Our travel story began when my daughter was just 8 months old. We boarded our first plane and set off to explore Europe for the summer. Since then, travel has become our family’s rhythm. Summers aren’t spent at camp, ours are spent with packed suitcases, boarding passes, and one mom navigating the world with two tiny explorers in tow.
Whether it’s surfing in Portugal, swimming in sea caves in Italy, or helping with sea turtle conservation in Dominica, every adventure has been a lesson in courage, growth, and joy. The impact travel has had on our lives is immeasurable, and at this point, I know one thing for sure: no adventure is ever out of reach.
People often say, “Travel now, because once you have kids, it’s over.” But when I became a mom, my world didn’t shrink—it expanded. My passion for travel grew even stronger, because now I had two little humans to experience it with. Out Making Memories was born from this exact idea: that parenthood isn’t the end of your adventure—it’s the beginning of an entirely new one.
Even if my kids don’t remember every moment, that’s never been the point. I travel with them to nurture their hearts, not just to fill their memory banks. I’ve seen their eyes light up at new landscapes, tasted new foods together, listened to different languages, and watched them make friends across cultures. These moments are shaping who they are—curious, kind, adaptable, and fearless.
